The Rexel Energy Solutions team recently came together to participate in a teambuilding activity that also gave back to the local community. The event took place at their offices in Fall River, MA on January 31, 2024, during the Annual RES Sales Summit. The team worked together and ultimately built and donated 12 brand new high-end remote controlled (RC) racecars and 12 superhero capes to children associated with the The Izzy Foundation.
Rexel Energy Solutions chose a program called “Crazy Carz 4 Kidz – Trivia Edition” in partnership with Impact 4 Good, that would be competitive and fun for participants, while making a difference. Impact 4 Good (www.impact4good.com) is a company that runs socially conscious teambuilding programs. During the activity, 75 participants competed in a challenging trivia game show where points were awarded for correct answers, as well as bonus points for the fastest correct answer! After the points were tallied, and the winning team determined, the teams received the materials needed to make high-end remote-controlled racecars and superhero capes. The cars do not just represent a brand-new gift for a child, but also a sense of freedom while staying in the hospital. Superhero capes provide children with a sense of power and strength during a time of their lives where they and their loved ones need it most! Based on performance in the final car race, one team took home the victory, but the real winners were the kids! The inspiration for The Izzy Foundation came from Isabelle Marie Wohlrab (Izzy), who was diagnosed with Stage 4 rhabdomyosarcoma cancer two weeks after her first birthday. Even after Izzy earned her angel wings, she has inspired her parents, family, friends and countless others to continue with her philosophy to LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE and PLAY through The Izzy Foundation. Initially created to defray the costs of Izzy’s stem-cell transplant in Germany, the Foundation now seeks to design spaces, provide services and support to children with cancer and their families by implementing inpatient and outpatient services for pediatric patients at Hasbro Hospital, in Providence, Rhode Island and nationwide. Carla Mulhern and Deb Thompson of the Izzy Foundation attended the event to thank the participants for their time and efforts and speak about the organization. Following the event, Carla Mulhern, Executive Director of The Izzy Foundation, stated, “It was evident after being at your event, even for just a short time, the Rexel Energy Solutions team has a passion for helping others. The remote-controlled race cars and superhero capes will bring joy to our inpatient children/families. We enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity to share Izzy’s story with your team and personally talk to some of you. Everyone was so nice and welcoming." "Rexel Energy Solutions understands the importance and the significance of being a good corporate citizen," said Lindsay Thompson, Director of Marketing & Strategic Innovation at Rexel Energy Solutions, "and we strive to make a positive impact in the local communities where our clients and employees work and live. The Izzy Foundation does incredible work for children with cancer at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and this was our chance to make a small but powerful difference."
